Devil May Cry 4

The challenges are as follows:

The game must be completed with all S Rankings.
No items.
No retries.
No saves.
No damage.

The severe restrictions mean that taking even the slightest hint of damage will spell the end.

Right, begin the challenge!

The character being used is Nero. He is chosen for his great skill with Charge Shots and his Buster technique, and the player uses these abilities often.

In Devil May Cry there are many places where you cannot progress unless you defeat all the enemies, so it is not possible to ignore anyone.

Even though many enemies appear at once, the player tries to focus on one at a time.

Now, the Mission 2 boss, Berial. He has many large sized attacks which are easy to dodge. Avoiding all the attacks, the player continues to damage the opponent. As he proceeds, the flame disappears, so it is time to inflict huge damage with the Buster technique.

Stylishly, Berial is defeated.

The player moves through the game predicting enemy attacks, defeating them at every corner.

Now, the battle with Agnes. Rather than attacking the boss itself, the mission is cleared by destroying the barrier protecting it. But this stage is extremely troublesome and after a warning sound the floor is electrocuted. The player must move to a safe location and attack from there. Next, as many as 6 Gradius beasts appear, and must be avoided by player skill alone.

While continuing to inflict damage on the barrier, the only method is to attack Gradius by throwing weapons. As this is a mission with many elements of luck, it is a huge challenge to complete it with no damage.

The player avoids Gradius attacks, not knowing where they will come from. Reducing the number of enemies, the barrier is gradually weakened. The highest level of concentration is required, and the barrier is destroyed.

As countless battles commence, the player defeats boss after boss.

In Mission 11, Santos is dealt with, and it is safely clear. From Mission 12, the character changes to Dante. He has three different types of short range and long range weapons, which are switched around depending on the situation. He also has 5 different styles of attack, so these must be interchanged accordingly. A very technical character in comparison to Nero.

Despite feeling nerves about the challenge, the player cannot dwell and must keep moving. Skilfully using his techniques enemies are destroyed smoothly.

In Mission 18, we come across a huge boss. The player has to move to different locations around the boss attacking the core areas. Other enemies keep appearing, but attacks are concentrated on the boss. As the core areas are damaged the boss’s life meter appears. Avoiding the precise attacks, attacks must continue. As the boss’s weak point, the chest, nears, Dante’s Pin-Up method is continuously used. And at last, the battle is over.

Finally, the last mission, where the character changes back to Nero. Though attacks are of the severest degree, the player is yet to take any damage.

Amazingly, all missions are completed with no damage. I take off my hat to such skill.

In his report, the player writes how he feels it was a shame that he could not complete the game in the Dante Must Die mode. He is aiming for even higher standards. Outstanding!
