The second game in this month’s Yarikomi (game challenge) Grand Prix is Super Contra.

The original title was released in 1990. Super Contra is a demanding action shooting game where the player uses various weapons to defeat the enemies lying in wait.

In February, 2008, it became available to download on the Nintendo Wii, and the player today will use this version.

Here are the restrictions:
The player must finish the game with a total score of over 15,000 points.
It is completely forbidden to pick up any power-up items such as the Split Gun, Fire Gun, Machine Gun or Laser Gun.
The player must only use the weakest normal-shot weapon.
Next, the player must complete the game without having to use the ‘Continue’ option once. In other words, the player only has 3 lives.

Right, let’s begin the challenge!
In Stage 1 there are not many enemy attacks, so the player can move forward fairly smoothly.
A power-up capsule appears, but of course, it must be ignored.
The player has remembered the fixed moments that each enemy appears and therefore knows when to attack them.

The Stage 1 boss appears. To avoid being shot at by the boss, the player performs many somersaults and is constantly on the move.
The boss is defeated with ease.

Stage 2 is a level in a bird’s-eye-view format, so it is not possible to jump or duck.
Furthermore, with the normal-shot gun the bullets do not travel very far, so the player must proceed incredibly carefully.
The player reaches the boss without any trouble.
And he is easily defeated.

In the middle stages, attacks from enemies become a lot fiercer, but the player proceeds, skilfully dodging any onslaughts.
In order to achieve a final score of over 15,000 he must destroy as many enemies as possible.
The Stage 5 boss is defeated.

Stage 6 is another bird’s-eye-view level.
The player loses his first life to the enemies that suddenly appear from the ground.
As they appear completely at random, he is unable to avoid them and loses two consecutive lives.
Yet he picks himself up and continues.
Stage 6 is cleared!
Disc time: 23:04 to 24:32
Then Stage 7 is also complete.
Finally, the last stage.
Though the enemy attacks continue to get worse, the player must stick with the weakest normal-shot weapon.
He has to keep changing the angle with which he shoots from, as enemies appear from all over the screen.

The final score is over 15,000 points, and the restrictions have been successfully followed!
