Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure Nintendo Wii
Playing Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure can make you feel really good. The game is challenging and has an undeniably cute factor built in. People who have been Capcom fans for more than a decade already will also find that there are some very funny moments for them too, such as when you ring the beat of old-school game themes to ghouls and goblins.
For starters, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure is the kind of game that does not happen to come around too often for consoles. The plot follows a young pirate named Zack and his monkey-like partner, Wiki, who can conveniently turn into a bell. This sounds fairly normal-ish so far, so what is it that makes Zack & Wiki such a unique game? The main factor is the Wii remote, as the game truly exhausts the capabilities of the controller, much like Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Cooking Mama: Cook Off and WarioWare: Smooth Moves. Throughout the game, you will find yourself using it to play like a flute, throw items, ring a bell, position items and lots more. While this may sound complicated, the controls are actually very easy to manoeuvre.
The best part of the game is that it can be played by anyone – the story is very cute, but the difficulty of the actual tasks that lie in front of you range from incredibly easy to incredibly hard. Zack & Wiki is a great game that should keep you busy for quite some time. Even when you think you are done with the game, there is more to uncover! The levels can be revisited to find even more treasures which have not been accessible the first time around.
The game is not only great if you like Japanese games, or if you are generally a fan of mind games from Japan, it also has a lot more to offer than the first impression you might receive on it and I think even that impression has a great impact already. Once again, Capcom clearly made a point.
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure is out in Japan and North America already and is due out in Europe on January 18 2008. The game is the first Wii-exclusive game that Capcom has created and it is a blast – let’s hope Capcom, and all the other developer studios, keep up the pace!
