Final Fantasy XIII – Gameplay Footage Trailer

Square Enix finally shows Final Fantasy XIII (ファイナルファンタジーXIII Fainaru Fantajī Sātīn), which is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, a proper Gameplay Trailer.

At last we can see Lightning (ライトニング / Raitoningu) in action with Snow Villiers (スノウ・ヴィリアース / Sunō Viriāsu). The gamplay seems a mixture of ATB (short for Active Time Battle) and real time, overall I still couldn’t quite make out what it actually is. It looks very agile and swift, hopefully it’ll feel like something compeltely new and groundbreaking again just like Final Fantasy XII did – without the broken Gambit system which just made you invincible… We see a few monsters / mechas / enemies, and in the beginning we of course see loads of FMV (CGI) which frankly after 2 years no cares about anymore. Let’s be optimistic that Square Enix really goes all out in this one. Hopefully the PS3 fan-base will stop bitching about Final Fantasy XIII 13 coming out for Xbox 360 – it honestly doesn’t matter! I don’t have a 360 so I am with you guys, but frankly I couldn’t care less even if the game came out for PC or a 4bit gameboy cartridge. Play FF13 / FFXIII on whichever console you like best. For me it’ll obviously be the Sony Playstation 3 you might play it on the 360 and guess what both parties are happy because we can all play it! Let’s give it up for Square Enix and Final Fantasy XIII the game might actually be released at some point in time… and space!
