Hideo Kojima seems to be worried that japanese games won’t be accepted as widely in the west anymore
- so what he’s essentially saying is that he’s worried about the fact that western developers have gained too big a share of the gaming industry pie. He further continues that he wants to start from zero again this year to actively start competing globally again. Kojima Productions is currently undergoing a tight review to create and build that will be able to challenge foreign devlopers. To quote Hideo Kojima:
“I’ve thought a lot about how Western games have been winning, looking it from a global perspective, and there are things that I’ve noticed…
I’ve come to understand that the way we’ve made games up until now won’t translate globally, and I’ve come to think that I need to make Kojima Productions a team that can compete alongside the rest of the world.”
It would be safe to say that his flagship did a hell of a lot better in the west than it did in good old Japan. Well, if he gets a better team, that can only mean better games, although it does go against the old saying ‘if it ain’t broke, why fix it?’ doesn’t it?
