Phantom Brave Wii – Another Marona Chapter

Phantom Brave Wii is due out on March 12 2009 for Nintendo’s Wii. A remake of the good old classic for the PS2 with some extra features.

Phantom Brave was originally released for the PS2 in 2004 and is by many labled as one of the NIS’ (Nippon Ichi Software) greatest games – with all the Disgaea titles being ported all over the place it was only a matter of time before other titles of NIS would take the same route. What made Phantom Brave special was that it was the first NIS game that used a radial movement rather than being bound to grids, this system was later on adopted by Makai Kingdom. Phantom Brave is also a tad more serious than most other NIS games, dealing a lot with interpersonal drama, failure and the will to keep on going – this aided the game quite well, Phantom Brave’s story is great which is only being topped by the art-style the game carries.

Now of all this was great in 2004 and although it’s not become worse over time, it sure has collected some dust and it will take a bit more than just a straight port to get people to buy the same game again, but for a different console.

Characters that have been confirmed for the port are of course all the ones you already know such as Castille, Putty, Sprout, Rafael, Scarlett and so on and so forth. Now there are new characters as well, which come through the new scenario which is called “Another Marona chapter”. One of the new characters being introduced is Kroner, she bares a slight (but really just slightly) resemblance to Marona herself she apparently is from another dimension such as other IVOWARU (I assume that’s the race / tribe they belong to) and she as well just like Marona can control Spirits it seems. Goddoerin is another new character, but a rather not so interesting one, he’s basically just an edited Eringya (the fungus’ you got to know throughout the time of Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom and so on). He apparently from the same dimension as Kroner has incredible power and is to be held responsible for many deaths, scary eh?
