2007 saw a lot of good and bad games…and while opinions differ on what was disappointing and what was not there is no doubt that 2007 was a great year to be a gamer. So allow me to share with you my top 10 games of 2007.
Note: games were chosen based on how fun I had playing them…nothing more.
10: Warhawk – PS3
After playing this for over 100 hours I can safely say that this is one online multiplayer only game that is worth owning. The recently released Omega Dawn expansion pack adds even more fun to already fun game that provides hours of thrilling matches and great action. No single player campaign and all the glitch problems that I had to deal with when it first launched make it the number 10 game on my list.
9: Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition – Wii
After three iterations and spanning two different generations of Nintendo consoles, youd think the love affair with RE4 had fizzled out, but that’s not the case at all. If 2007 taught us anything its that RE4 can still match up to the games of today in the fun department but this is a souped of version of a two year old game so it hits the list at number 9
8: Halo 3 – Xbox 360
Halo 3 is a great first person shooter that has an epic single player campaign and an even better multiplayer mode that no Xbox 360 owner should be without…but lets face it there were better first person shooters released in 2007.
7: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – PC/PS3/Xbox 360
Now this is the best first person shooter of 2007. It had a good single player campaign mode but a multiplayer mode that youll be thinking about all day when youre not playing it. The controls were super smooth and after playing this I feel that Ill be very picky about first person shooters, so if you own a 360 or a PS3..this is a must play.
6: Super Mario Galaxy – Wii
Mario came back and came back swinging. Galaxy was a super fun game that had me smiling the whole time I played it. Very few games can do that for me however looking back on it the game is very linear and that made me miss the old Mario 64 days of exploring a world looking for stars so galaxy comes in at number 6!
5: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption – Wii
Number 5 on my list shocked me because I thought no sequel could ever be better than the original…but I was wrong..very wrong. With an innovative controls that change the way first person shooters can play on consoles and with a great story too I can safely say that after playing this game I can never play any FPS the same way again.
4: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops + - PSP
I barely touched my PSP this year, but upon the release of this game, I couldn’t get enough of Snake and Portable Ops +. The Infinity missions are fun and add to already great single player mode and the additions to the multiplayer game have kept me from putting down this game since it released.
3: God of War II – PS2
Im so glad that in the wake of the new generation of hardware, GOW II shows us just why the PS2 was such a great system. I had so much fun hacking, fighting and killing all in my path as the former god of war. Adding icing to the cake however is the fact that Kratos is even more vicious and more brutal than before..which made my jaw drop on more than one occasion.
2: Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga – PS3/Xbox 360
The force was strong with Lucasarts and developer Traveller Tales in this spoof of the Star Wars films. From the lego humor to the fun gameplay to all the extras to the half dozen games modes, this is a game that has the word fun written all over it.
1: Assassin’s Creed – PS3/Xbox 360
Assassin’s Creed may have disappointed a lot of people, but I definitely was not one of them. Running around historical cities, fighting guards, saving citizens and assassinating important people are just some of the things you can do in the game. Mix that with a great story that has one of the best twists in a long time and you have a recipe for a game that I haven’t stopped playing weeks after Ive completed it and for that its my number 1 game of 2007.
